Hi
I have done a Google to try and find the answers I need, but to
no avail and wondered if anyone could help me.
I recently changed my TV to a new Toshiba 28Z44B. At the same
time I also replaced my FTA Digibox from a Thomson FDT 500
to the Humax F2-FoxT in order to take advantage of the RGB
output of the Humax. I use fully wired scart leads.
When the Humax is set to RGB, the picture through the RGB input
of the Tosh results in glaring white objects (shirts, painted surfaces etc)
which lack detail. This then forces me to reduce contrast from 24 to
almost nil but then washes out the overall picture. When I set the Humax
to
PAL through the same scart input of the Tosh this problem improves
but reduces sharpness/clarity of the picture quality, OSD graphics, text
etc.
but increases colour depth.
I thought it was a characteristic of the Humax, so replaced it with a
Sony DTX-800U. Although the overall picture quality is better
with the Sony, the white problem still remains when I use
it in RGB. PAL is roughly same as the Humax.
I had read previously that RGB renders user controls of colour,
brightness etc ineffective, yet I can still alter all of these when my
TV is set to RGB. Does this mean my Tosh is not capable of
handling RGB properly and should I just forget about RGB and
use PAL?
TIA for any help.
