Hi folks,

Ive got one of them old fashioned (!) CRT tellys; a 36 Sony
KV-36FS70 to be precise and Im idly wondering whether it would be
possible to hook it up to HD source ie SKY HD or an HD-DVD / Blu-Ray
player and if I could would there be any point? That is, would the
picture I get from this be any better than Im currently getting from
standard DVDs?

I can handle the cost of upgrading a DVD player but I cant really
justfy ditching a four year old Ł2k telly that I couldnt shift for a
tenner on ebay :)

Any help gratefuul received.

Mik

you could connect the HD gear, but only at regular SD resolution - so in
most ways it would be a waste of time....

Before even starting on the different parameters, most domestic CRTs
struggle to resolve the maximum from analogue TV let alone HD. To put it
simply, there arent enough dots on the screen.

I suspected as much but I guess I was hoping that the DRC100 might
help somewhat.

Looks like itll be a few years before HD in our house then, although
on the upside the HD-DVD / Blu-Ray bunfight might have been resolved
by then!

Thanks for the help,

Mik

Im very happy in a similar boat. We have a SOny KV32FX20 which is a 32
50Hz with no trickery. We get a very good picture from DVDs, normal Sky
and our Tivo using an RGB lead.

We probably wont replace the TV until it dies. Then well get a 50
flat screen and there wont be a premium for full HD-kit. However,
theyll probably we trying to sell us double or quad HD by then!
