My InfocusX1 has just started giving me the red light and the fan
keeps spinning up and down. I think it may be time to get a new
projector.

I want to connect my dvd player and my xbox 360. So i really want
720p for the xbox. I would prefer DLP like the X1. Also I want a
bigger image than the X1 which gave me about 70-80 from 10.

I dont want to spend more than a grand. Anything spring to mind?

I like my Hitachi PJ-TX200 ( I think its TX300 now) but its LCD
technology. XBox 360 HD DVD looks awesome through it.

Ive got the PJ-TX300 and thinks its pretty awesome too. My opinion
though is limited as its my first projector. None of the problems the
old LCDS had with red/blue/green imaging - also no chickenwire effect
either. Just make sure you use a good component cable connection and
youre away. I had to buy a 10m Ixos Component video cable which cost
me Ł90 and also begrudgingly forked out another Ł90 for a universal
ceiling mount.
Cost wise the TX300 is roughly Ł800-900.
I also sit directly under it and can only hear the fan when theres
complete silence (which is hardly ever).
I havent run Xbox thru it but will be getting a PS3 - the chap I
bought it off at Richer Sounds has his Xbox connected through this
projector and says its great - no slowing down of graphics etc.
Saw the Ł3K ThemeScene being demod in Sevenoaks with HD DVD and that
nearly made me wet my pants HOWEVER too expensive and the wife
wouldnt agree unfortunately. Ive heard ThemeScene are pretty good on
all levels.
I gave Projector Point a ring - mentioned my Ł1k budget and they were
pretty helpful. Try em!

Hope this helps

Well, you didnt *have* to do that. It was your choice. I paid around Ł22
for my 15m component video cable, including delivery.

Yes, that is right. A.V. cables can be a big rip off at this time in many
dealers.
True some will be better than others but not at the prices we see, best to
buy on Ebay from a shop there. My internet ones are well made and of good
quaulity, and I cant tell the difference from those in the stores at 4 or 5
times the price.
The cable offered to me for my new DVD player was the same price as the
player!!!

For those who dissagree have you had your 13amp plugs gold plated yet.
LOL

Ive bought a number of cables from here, and am happy to endorse them based
on my past experiences:

http://www.tvcables.co.uk/cgi-bin/tvcables/index.html

They sell various brands of cables at a range of prices, but the
bog-standard ones are quite well made and seem to do the job perfectly
adequately (Im a cable-cynic, so thats as far as I ever go in praising a
cable!).
