Providing you see it demonstrated using equipment designed to handle hi-def
signals and the source material is hi-def.

If one piece of the jigsaw is missing you are not going to see what everyone
who has seen a proper demo is raving about.

There is a lot of confusion out there - which I believe the likes of Comet
are using to their advantage (but that is another story) - so read up on the
specification for hi-def first and then challenge anything that is labelled
HD-ready but does not meet the criteria

The only problem for Joe Public is that having seen the fabbo demos in Comet
etc
when he takes home his 3000 pound HDTV-ready set he will discover that there
isnt actually any HDTV-ready material to play on it. Freeview & Sky Digital are
not going to look half as good as the HDTV demos being used to sell these sets.

Not to mention the fact you spend 3000 grand on a HD set, then when sky
finally does start HD programming next year your gonna pay an arm and a leg
in sub fees to get it..!!! My view of the whole thing is simple, by the time
that most programmes are in HD format (and your not paying though the nose
for them) the price of HD Ready TVs will be the same as what a CRT is
compared to a LCD is now...!! So if you want a mega setup in ya front room
and have got the cash to spare what the heck eh..!! otherwise sit back relax
and dont listen to all the hype...!!!

Okuda..

They had some nice 84 Inch HD screens in BestBuy the other week.
$12,000 to you mate!

Even from three feet away the picture was stunning. Problem is (as well
as the $12,000 for the telly) buying a house with a room big enough to
fit one in :-)

Youre missing the point - for 3000 grand, you just hire the
actors.....

Thing is of course that 84 isnt that big if youre a Home Cinema
fan, and if the picture looks great from three feet away, why do you
need a big room? Sit eight feet away and enjoy!
