Ive been meaning to ask for opinions on the quality of football on
LCD. Ive read the reviews which mention the blurring of fast movement
due to response times.
I was in John Lewis on Sunday and they were showing highlights of West
Ham v Ipswich on the 30 Samsung. I could see no blurring. The source
was digital, so there was a ragged look to the edges of players (I get
this on my CRT with freeview), but as far as I could see it was a
perfectly acceptable picture.
I think the Samsung is for me. I would prefer the 26 if I can find it
anywhere.
So where is the blurring and motion trail? Has it been exaggerated
or is my eyesight suspect or have Samsung worked some magic?

Depends on the telly/ monitor. Earlier ones were worse than newer ones.
There is virtually no motion trail on any ones Ive seen in the past couple
of years -not that Ive been looking that hard.

There has been a lot of improvements in the time it takes for a LCD
panel to refresh the image. It was not unusual to see over 25ms for such
an operation a year ago but now there are panels that can get down
to 12ms which makes a huge difference.
I believe the 30 Samsung has a 16ms response time and coupled
with modern picture processing the results are obviously good.
Like any flat panel display you have to see it working with the source
you would be viewing in the home, if it looks acceptable to your eyes
then that is all that matters:)
