Ive recently set up my home theater system (Marantz SR 7200, Marantz
DV 4300) with a set of the Kef 2005.1 satelites and sub that I got a
great deal on last fall. Now that the 2005.2 system is out and Im
reading all of the accolades and supposed improvements, Im tempted to
consider trading in my set and trying to upgrade.

The room Im set up in is a 10 x 10 space that is the lower part of
a larger L-shaped room. The system is used for both movies and music,
and based purely on the reviews and what Ive heard (although Ive not
been able to do a side-by-side comparison) it sounds like Id like the
new system more. Ive gotten inconsistent info from sales folks at the
local shop, but basically that the new system is a bit harsher
sounding vs the older system with the soft-domed tweeter and that in
my small room I dont really need the more powerful sub.

Any opinions on whether its worth the hassle?

Creative Audio has a list of the upgrades.

Personally I would wait and upgrade to higher end speakers all-round- for
example M&K S-85s x 5/7, with a decent sub- SVS, HSU, Velodyne etc.

Thanks for the feedback.... One thing that I shouldve pointed out,
perhaps, is that this room, given the entire hometheater system,
furniture and its size, does not really allow for floor-standing
speakers. This is what made the KHT, or something similar, an ideal
approach to solve my problem. I think for the forseeable future, as
far as this room is concerned, wall-mountable satelites are going to
be the way to go.

Any thoughts on how much of an upgrade the KHT 5000 series are?

Thanks

Mike
